Asante Kotoko coach C K Akonnor is disappointed with the performance of some his players following their 1-0 defeat to AshGold in Obuasi on Sunday.
The former Hearts and Dreams FC gaffer believes that the commitment of some of the players is questionable, urging them to justify their selections.
According to the former AshGold coach, some of the players were complaining about lack of playing time during their CAF Confederation Cup but have failed to justify their inclusion in the team in the ongoing Special Competition.
“For the first time I must be honest, those guys who were not playing when we were playing the Confederation Cup, they were complaining.
“Now I have given a lot of them the chance, but they have not been able to prove it in the games. Is not too good I have to say it,” he said.
“Sometimes our inability to control the game is worrying.
“We have a lot of experienced players and I think it’s important they show why they should play, why the should have played in the Confederation Cup.
“This is the time they have to show me what they got,” he added.
“Unfortunately in the last couple of matches it has not been going well and I’m m not happy. We need to improve on that.
Asante Kotoko will host Eleven Wonders on Wednesday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
