Lliberty Professional handed Elmina Sharks their heaviest defeat of the NC Special Competition with a 3-1 score line at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park on Sunday.
Three first half goals from Simon Zibo, Benjamin Eshun and Elvis Kyei Baffour were enough despite a consolation from George Amoono.
Liberty took the lead in the 9th minute of the game when Ampadu’s header hit the hand of Elmina Sharks defender which the referee hurriedly whistled for a spot kick.
Simon Zibo masterly converted to give the home side the lead.
Elmina Sharks responded in the 23rd minute with George Amoono beautifully heading an Mpong cross to draw the away team level.
Sharks had the chance to take the lead as Addington was left unmarked on the edge of the penalty area but his shot went high off the post.
Liberty Professional restored the lead in the 34th minute as Benjamin Eshun released a left footed shot after a great cross from Ampadu on the right.
Elvis Kyei Baffour made it three, two minutes later as his powerful drive hit the post and dashed into the net.
The first half ended 3-1 in favour of Liberty Professionals.
Elmina Sharks returned from the break looking stronger.
George Amonou came close again but his shot was cleared by Sefah.
Elmina Sharks were the better side in the second half but couldn’t turn their pressure into goals as the referee blew his whistle for the end of the game.
