Accra Hearts of Oak came from behind to beat Ebusua Dwarfs 2-1 in the NC Special Competition at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.
Ebusua Dwarfs started the game brightly by piling pressure on Accra Hearts of Oak and it yielded dividends as Albert Hammond fired past goalkeeper Richmond Ayi for the opener in the 6th minute after being set up by Abu Naba.
The Phobians got out of their shells launching several attacks but the Dwarfs defenders made up of Kingsley Nteng and Stephen Bentil stood resolute.
The Phobians had a penalty after a foul in the box in the 15th minute and Christopher Bonney made no mistake by displacing goalkeeper Daniel Wiredu Mensah for the equalizer.
Both clubs adopted a cautious approach as the midfielders decided to hold the ball.
Chances were far and few as the first half ended.
After recess, Hearts of Oak took total control of the game by pushing more men forward.
In-form Manaf Umar netted the second goal for the Phobians in the 49th minute after some sloppy play from Dwarfs.
Striker Kofi Kordzi who replaced Joseph Esso at half time had some chances but was denied by the Dwarfs keeper.
The home side brought on Obed Bentum for Isaac Donkor in the 52nd minute whilst Abudu Dramani was also introduced in the 68th minute as Dwarfs searched for the equalizer but Alhassan Mohammed, Fatawu Mohammed and others in the Hearts defence stood resolute and thwarted all efforts from Dwarfs as the referee blew his whistle for the end of the game.
