But C K Akonnor made only a change to the team that drew Bechem United four days ago.

Abass Mohammed was this time preferred to Naby Keita.

AshGold started the game very well dominating in the early minutes of the game.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko were comfortable allowing AshGold to have large share of possession, while they wait to hit them on break.

Abass Mohamed came close for Asante Kotoko, but his header from close range narrowly missed the post.

Center back Mubarik Yussif also came close for Ashanti Gold on the 33rd minutes, but header was cleared.

Ashanti Gold finally broke the virginity of the game a minute before the break when young striker John Agyakum pounced on a cross from Emmanuel Sowu to put the ball at the back of the net for the home side.

Despite playing four minutes of additional time, Ashanti Gold held on solidly their lead till the full time whistle was blown.
