Aduana Stars defeated regional rivals Berekum Chelsea by a lone goal to close in on second place Asante Kotoko in the Zone A of the NC Special Competition.
Yahaya Mohammed’s second half strike was the difference as the Ogya Boys fought hard to break the stubborn Berekum Chelsea defense.
Serving their last home game ban in the competition, the Ogya Boys hosted their regional rivals at the Nana Fosu Gyabour Park in Bechem.
In a rainy afternoon at the at Fosu Gyabour Park, Aduana Stars dominated the first twenty minutes as they look to break the visitors defence.
Jonas Attuquaye nearly broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 37th minute, but Aduana Stars defence cleared the danger.
Both sides fought tooth and nail but the virginity of the game remained unlocked before the break.
Aduana Stars came into the second half looking stronger as they searched for the important lead.
The rains nearly truncated the game as the ball could hardly bounce on the soaky pitch.
After some few minutes of anxious wait, the game resumed with both sides ready to go for the kill.
It was Yahaya Mohammed who broke the deadlock in the 70th minute with a beautiful finish in the penalty box.
Berekum Chelsea responded very well
after conceding but couldn’t break the resilient Aduana Stars defense.
Aduana Stars held on to secure a beautiful win to keep their title hopes alive.
