Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey has been voted the 2018 Sports Personality of the Year by the Sport Writers Association of Ghana.

The Atletico Madrid star also emerged as the Footballer of the Year 2018 at the ceremony which took place at the International Conference Center in Accra.

The Ghana midfielder beat off competition from boxer Isaac Dogboe and CAF Deputy GS Anthony Baffoe.

The former Tema Youth star usurped his competitors after winning the second most prestigious club trophy in Europe, the Europa League with his club, Atletico Madrid of Spain.

The mercurial midfielder also contributed to helping Ghana qualify for the 2019 AFCON playing all the games in the qualifiers.

Partey scored twice for Ghana in 2018, both goals in friendly encounter, one against Japan in Yokohama, and another against Iceland.
