Ghana’s female senior national team – the Black Queens – got off to a winning start in the WAFU Zone B championship by beating their Senegalese counterparts by 2-0.
Two second half goals from Evelyn Badu and Mukarama Abdullai helped Ghana to secure the comfortable win.
The Black Queens had a slow start to the game as they struggled to deal with the tempo of the game.
Despite creating many chances in the first half none of the sides was able to break the deadlock.
The Black Queens upped their game in the second half and began to put a lot of pressure on their opponents.
Evelyn Badu broke the deadlock of the game in 74th minutes as she slotted home a nice finish.
Substitute Mukarama Abdullai made it 2-0 for Ghana in additional time as the Black Queens wrapped up their win.
The other game in the group saw Ivory Coast beat Togo by 3-0
Ghana will face Togo in the next group game on Friday 10 May 2019.
