Medeama SC pipped AshGold at the T&A Park on Wednesday to maintain their lead of top of the Premier A table of the NC Special Competition.

While Ashanti Gold also started Tijjani Joshua for the first time this season since returning from injury, same as striker Mark Agyakum who started ahead of Shafiu Mumuni.
Ashanti Gold started the game very well and dominated the early proceedings.
It took Medeama sometime before settling in the game.
The first chance of the game fell to Kwame Boateng but his deflected shot was parried away by goalkeeper Frank Boateng.
Justice Blay also came close in the 29th minute but his header went wide.
Ashanti Gold went close in the 39th minute, but Richard Djodi’s effort was saved my Ansah.
Daniel Egyin nearly gifted Ashanti Gold a goal in the 45th minute, but James Akaminko acted slowly for Blay to clear the danger.
The first half ended goalless as both sides defended gallantly.
The second half was more open as both sides came from the brake.
Awudu Tahiru came close to breaking the deadlock but Mubarik Yussif recovered to clear the ball from a dangerous position.
Medeama’s pressure finally paid off in the 65th minute as Agyenim Boateng powered them in front with a good strike.
Ashanti Gold huffed and puffed after the goal but failed to get the equalizer.
Agyenim Boateng nearly made it two for Medeama but his header went wide.
Richard Djodi had the last chance of the game but his shot was blocked by Egyin.
The game ended 1-0 in favour of the home side as they stretched their lead on top of Zone A.
