Kwajo Poku and Ofosu Abega were on target as Tamale City made their intensions clear to lead Zone 1A in the ongoing NCSC by thumping Paga Crocodile 3-0 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
After dropping points in midweek against the same side, care taker coach Hamza Mohammed’s side responded impressively to put pressure on Kintampo FC who play RTU on Sunday, in the race for the top spot.
The Citizens did not have to wait for long on Saturday with Kwajo Poku tuckling in Tamale City’s first goal in the 26th minute.
Ofosu Abega got on the score sheet on the stroke of half time with a beauty of a goal.
Any doubts over how Tamale City will react to being usurped by Kintampo Fc were swiftly cast aside, Kwajo Poku taking full advantage of miscommunication at the back of Paga Crocodile to register his second on the day and fourth in his last three games.
City will trek to Nkoranza to tackle Techiman City as the bid to hold on to their lead on the league table at the moment.
Techiman City lost the reverse fixture 2-0 but Hamza Mohammed believes his boys are now getting match fitness and will pick all three points.
