Karela United maintained their top spot on Zone B of the Normalisation Committee Special Tournament on Wednesday with a 1-0 win over visiting Liberty Professionals at the Crosby Awuah Park in Anyinase.
The match-day seven encounter saw Karela taking an early lead through defender Treku Gator who headed home a Emmanuel Osei-Baffour free kick in the fifth minute.
Karela United who were very dominant on the day had several chances through Sarfo Taylor and Franklyn Osei but they failed to get their second goal.
The home side launched an attack just before recess but through Emmanuel Keyekeh in midfield but Samuel Amofa of Liberty made a timely intervention to stop his pass from reaching Taylor.
The first half ended with Karela being 1-0 up and also outplaying their opponents in terms of ball [possession.
Liberty Professionals stepped up their game in the second half and nearly snatched the equalizer through Benjamin Eshun but goalkeeper Kofi Mensah pulled a stupendous save.
Karela held on to the 1-0 win despite late dangerous attacks from Liberty Professionals.
