Ghana midfielder Michael Essien is not having an easy start to life with Azerbaijani side Sabail FK.
Essien, who left Indonesian side Persip Bandung last year, is struggling to have the impact his new club had hoped for.
The 36 year old has made only two appearances and is yet to record a win for the club since joining on a short term deal last month.
He made his debut as a 65th minute substitute at the Alindzha Arena where Sabail FC were beaten 3-1 by Sabah FK.
The ex-Chelsea star climbed off the bench in the 78th minute but Sabail FK drew 2-2 with Neftchi on Sunday.
The former AC Milan star took up the opportunity to play for the European team and to also join the club’s U-19 coaching staff to acquire coaching experience as part of his journey to taking up a career in the dugout.
