Ibrahim Sunday is perhaps the most decorated Ghanaian footballer in the history of the CAF Champions League.

He was the first Ghanaian, and arguably, the first African to have won the CAF Champions League as a player and as a coach.

He won it with Asante Kotoko as a player in 1971 and rose to coach the side to win it as a coach for their last time in 1983.

Sunday was the first coach in the history of African Sports FC of Ivory Coast to have guided them to the CAF Champions League trophy.

He’s also the first coach to win the maiden edition of the CAF Super Cup, also with Africa Sports.

As a wonderful player on the African continent who won the Africa Footballer of the Years in 1971, he was invited by German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen to play for the club as the first African in the German league.

But, his letter of invitation got missing at the Ghana Football Association.
