Rockson Adjei Yeboah, host of Focal Sports on FOX 97.9 FM has been voted Best Sports Show Host of the year in the Ashanti Region during an immaculate media awards ceremony organized by Foklex Media.
The regional based categorised awards ceremony held at the national Theatre in Accra saw several distinguished journalists across the nation awarded for their outstanding performance in the media landscape over the years.
The categories included best sports host, best (sports) foreign news presenter, best commentator, best male and female newscaster, best social program among others.
The 8th edition of the annual awards ceremony saw the head of sports for broadcast giants FOX 97.9 FM (Kumasi) Rockson Adjei Yeboah awarded the prestigious award on Saturday, beating competition from other notable nominees from the Ashanti Region in the best sports host category.
The colourful event was graced by great personalities including ministers, Members of Parliament, chiefs and various VIPs who matter in society.
Musicians like Rex Omar, Kofi Kinaata, Joyce Blessing and others spiced up the auditorium, leaving audience enthused throughout the night, while enjoying the presentation of awards to all deserving awardees.
Having worked with the F-Giants Broadcasting Company Ltd (FOX FM) for over a decade, Adjei Yeboah’s commitment, dedication and love for all has seen his name written on the tabloids of the hearts of many, and some persons believe awarding the now nationwide sports show (Focal Sports) host for his exploits is long overdue.
Congratulating him for the milestone achieved, board member of Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak, Alhaji Akambi described the award as “long overdue”.
“I can say it (the award) is long overdue, because even when I used not to listen to FOX FM you in particular at times I get you online, I listened to your program, the way you do your program and I said no, you are doing well and a time may come you will get to a level that maybe BBC may come for you to host sports for them in Twi, so I wasn’t surprised that you won that nomination (for awards), you deserve it”, Akambi heaped praise on the iconic sports show host after the event.
Other top personalities including GFA Presidential aspirant Wilfred Osei Parma and Hon. Rafael Kubajee, Maxwell Konadu (Ex Black Stars assistant coach) could not resist the ecstasy at success of the Opoku Ware SHS and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) graduate, Rockson, but joined hands to congratulate him and urged him to aim for more.
“When such an award has been bestowed on you, it’s an honour done you and we must all celebrate it”, Parma told the fox sports crew at his residence. “It doesn’t come that easy, it’s through commitment, through hard work, through dedication that has brought this (award) to you”, he acknowledged.
He further urged Rockson to “give mutual respect to all your crew members” as team work pays a lot, and asked him to work harder to sustain the status quo and let this ginger him to win an international award in the near future.
Another milestone worth mentioning is the nomination of Wisdom Osei Bonsu, popularly know in the media as Darling Boy Piero in the best Commentator category.
Despite missing out narrowly on the prestigious gong, FOX FM is proud of you and strongly believe your recognition by the awarding firm as among the best in the country means a step away from being crowned the the not too distant future.
