Aduana Stars were held to a barren draw with Ashanti Gold at the Nana Agyemang-Badu Park II in Dormaa on Sunday afternoon.
The home side made series of changes in the team with captain Yahaya Mohammed dropping out of the line up for Bright Adjei whilst youngster Pious Asante was also handed his first start.
Svetislav Tanasevic also made one change in the team, starting Frank Boateng ahead of Robert Dabuo.
The two sides started the game very slow with both teams overly cautious in their play.
Aduana Stars were slightly on top trying to make incursion in the early stages bit AshGold weaved a strong defence to stop the home side from scoring.
Noah Martey came close in the 11th minute, but his thunderous strike missed the post by inches.
Bright Adjei came close few minutes later but his header went off the bar.
None of the teams was able to break the deadlock as the first half ended 0-0.
AshGold nearly scored just at the beginning of the second half.
McCarthy’s 30-yard screamer was saved by shot stopper Joseph Addo only for Ouattara Salia to fluff the rebound.
Aduana Stars took control of the game dominating possession but couldn’t create any chance.
Bright Adjei had a golden chance to give his team the lead after he was left with the goalkeeper, but frank Boateng did well to save Ashanti Gold.
Both failed to break the deadlock as referee whistled for the full time.
