The winner of the Normalization Committee Special Competition will represent Ghana in the next CAF Champions league, the committee has confirmed.
The competition which is set to start on Sunday March 31, 2019 will see the 15 Premier League clubs group into two zones namely Southern Zone and Northern Zone.
“Winner of the first tier (Tier 1) of the competition will represent Ghana at the next CAF Champions League competition while the winner of the knock out stage (Tier 2) will represent Ghana in the next confederation cup competition,” the NC confirmed on the Football Associations website
The Northern Zone will comprise of seven clubs because of the absence of Wa All Stars while the Southern Zone comprises of eight clubs.
The two clubs that will finish first and second of each zone will face off in the semi finals and the two winners of the semi final will come up against each other in the grand finale.
The inclusion of potential Champions League spot will be a motivating factor as many of the clubs will like to test their strength in the CAF elite Competition plus taking home ¢200,000 Ghana cedis as the prize for the winner.
The competition will last for three months to make way for the African Cup of Nation.
The Confederation of Africa Football has approved the competition to be a criteria for selection into the Champions League or Confederation Cup since it is has been the chosen criteria by the Normalization Committee.
