The Black Stars of Ghana lashed the Lions of Chinguiti by 3-1 in an international friendly encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
A lackluster performance in the first half by the Black Stars was improved in the second half to give Ghana the handsome win over the AFCON first timers.
Wimbledon FC striker Kwesi Appiah broke the virginity of the game only three minutes in the game from the spot after he swiftly scooped the ball away from his marker and was brought down.
In what promised to be a game that will rain a lot of goals, the Lions of Chinguiti turned the heat on the Black Stars who looked poorly organised but could not restore parity before the break.
The second half of the game saw Mauritania restoring parity from a masterly taken free kick by Adama Ba moments after the break.
Substitute Caleb Ekuban connected beautifully and headed home to restore the lead for Ghana just some few minutes after Adama restored parity for Mauritania.
Skipper for the day, Thomas Partey increased the tally with a nicely headed strike to leave the score line 3-1 for Ghana in a game which was keenly contested for in the second half.
Coach Kwasi Appiah will use the game to assess some of the players who have not been enjoying enough playing time to inform his decision of who to select for the 2019 AFCON in June.
