FC St Gallen midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has been ruled out of Ghana U23 AFCON qualifier with Gabon on Saturday after sustaining an injury this week.
The creative midfielder has been ruled out for two weeks, meaning he will not be available for Ghana’s first leg encounter with Gabon on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The former WAFA star suffered a cut on his leg during the league match against Lugano and has been stitched up.
The talented midfielder has, therefore, withdrawn himself from the Ghana squad.
He will stay over in Switzerland with the club for treatment.
Ashimeru is one of the 11 foreign-based who were invited for the clash but he’ll be absent from Ibrahim Tanko’s squad.
The match will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on 23 March and the return leg in three days time in Libreville.
The winner of the two-legged tie will face either Algeria or Equatorial Guinea in the final qualifying round.
