The absence of domestic football with its attendant lack of confidence of player contributed to the exit of Asante Kotoko from the CAF Confederation Cup, according former coach Frimpong Manso.
Manson believes several factors affected the Porcupine Warriors leading to their exit at the group stage but insists the two are paramount.
The Porcupine Warriors saw their dreams shattered after losing 2-1 against Zesco United in Zambia.
Speaking after the game, the Nkoranza Warriors coach cited a lot of factors that contributed to his former club’s elimination from the competition.
“It was many factors that contributed to their exit.
“First there was no league and the confidence level was down. Initially you could see they were struggling to organized themselves,” he said.
“Some of the players were playing in Africa for the first time, and right from day one there was a problem from the midfield, and then the attack and then the defence. I think failing to solve the problem also contributed to their exit.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko finished third in the group behind Al Hilal and Nkana FC.
