Broadcast giants and right owners of the Ghana Premier League StarTimes have warned against the illegal broadcast of their content including the German Bundesliga and the Europa League matches.
The Chinese broadcast giants are the official rights owners of the German Bundesliga, the Europa League and the French Ligue 1.
The media giants have warned that strong punitive measures will be taken against media houses who broadcast the said leagues without official authorization from StarTimes.
In a strong-worded statement, the broadcast giants warned that charges of copyright violations will be leveled against offenders as well as pressing criminal and civil charges against them.
“StarTimes will take string and active measures towards the enforcement of our copyright and will pursue criminal and civil actions against any media house which continuous to broadcast illegally,” the statement read.
The broadcast outfit reiterated their official position as the legal owners of the broadcast rights of the mentioned leagues and apart from their mandated outfits, any other media outlet that broadcast the leagues.
“As the official broadcast of the UEFA Europa League, the German Bundesliga and the French Ligue 1, we hold exclusive rights to the airing of the content on Television and OTT Live online streaming for the territory Ghana,” the statement added.
