Former Accra Hearts of Oak defender Emmanuel Ansong sustained a serious injury on Wednesday during the 62nd Independent Day clash between former Accra Hearts of Oak players and Kumasi Asante Kotoko players.

Ansong was stretched off with a broken ankle in the 70th minute after a serious tackle from Kotoko midfielder Osei Akoto

The 2005 Ghana Black Starlets skipper was sent to hospital in an ambulance with players from both clubs left in discomfort.

Ansong 29, last played for Mamprobi-based second division side YF Juventus in 2015.
