Despite going through the period of normalization of their football, Ghana are on the brink of being handed a ban by world football governing body FIFA over direct government interference.
The serious action which can see football in the West African country go into complete comatose follows a petition by former Executive Committee member of the Ghana FA Kojo Yankah.
Yankah who was the Regional FA Chairman of the Western Region believes the action of the government to set up a committee to oversee the running of football in the country is completely unconstitutional.
The disgruntled Kojo Yankah says the decision of the Sports Ministry to sideline the Normalisation Committee to organise competition for local clubs to keep players active is “unconstitutional and unwarranted”
While refusing to give details on the content of the petition, the outspoken football administrator confirmed receiving acknowledgement from the world governing body.
“They are destroying our football and we’ll not sit down and allow that to happen,” he told Kwadwo Mensah ‘Moshosho’ on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Morning show Thursday.
“Where in the world does a ministry organise competition for clubs? I have written to FIFA and copied the FA. FIFA has acknowledged receipt of my letter.
“At the moment, I am waiting to the action of FIFA. We are destroying our game on the alter of normalising football. It’s unconstitutional.”
