Asante Kotoko Confederation Cup group opponents Al Hilal have appointed former Tunisian midfielder Nabil Kouki as their new head coach ahead of the clash with ZESCO United this weekend.
Nabil, 48, was announced as the new coach of the club on Tuesday.
The Sudanese side appointed Nabil following the sacking of Irad Zaafouri after their 2-1 defeat to Nkana FC in Zambia.
It will be the third time coach Nabil is working for Al Hilal as head coach after previous spells in 2015 and 2017.
Nabil, despite being young has huge experience on the African terrain after stints with several top clubs including CS Sfaxien, Club Africain, Stade Tunisian and Bezertin.
The newly appointed coach was a great player in his days as a footballer. He won three Tunisian Cup,one league title, one Super Cup, one Arab Club Championship and an Arab Cup Winners Cup but is yet to replicate this successes as a coach.
The former midfielder now coach has managed over 10 clubs in his career and now rejoins Al Hilal as they eye qualification to the next stage of the Confederation Cup.
Al Hilal has been in Zambia since after their last official game on Wednesday in which they were beaten by Nkana FC.
Al Hilal, Nkana FC, Zesco United and Asante Kotoko are all on three points from two games ahead of this weekend’s CAF Confederation Cup clashes.
