Asante Kotoko trainer C.K Akonnor has called on supporters of the club to direct any form of pressure to him instead of his players as they lock horns with ZESCO United in the second group game of the Confederation Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors are chasing their first win of the group phase after falling to Al Hilal by 1-0 in their opening fixture about a week ago.
The pressure on the team is on a high as supporters expect a convincing victory on Wednesday against the Zambian side.
But Akonnor prefers being pressured instead of his players.
“You know win win win win, I don’t want that pressure on the boys. Of course they know what is at stake. They know they have to deliver in terms of winning. However I don’t want too much pressure on them. They have done enough but we have to continue with the work”.
“We are now in a different level. First it was the knockout stage, we were able to get there and now we are in the league process. We have lost our first match and at the back of their minds they know they have to win but I don’t want too much pressure on them”.
“Put the pressure on me and that is fine. You have always done that but I don’t want a situation where we will put too much pressure on them. They have done very well and we have to be honest” CK Akonnor shared.
