Ghanaian defender Richard Baffour will play in the CAF Champions League again following the reinstating of Ismaily SC.
Ismaily who have the Ghanaian in their fold were expelled from the competition for crowd violence in their home game against Tunisia’s Club Africain which ended abruptly.
Club Africain were up by two goals to one before the game was called off and the referees had to be whisked away by military men.
On Sunday, Ismaily’s lawyer Nasser Azam hinted that the club’s appeal had been accepted by African football’s ruling body.
“Today we – the Ismaily delegation – were in a hearing and Caf accepted the club’s appeal so we are now back in the African Champions League.” Azam stated in an official release.
The return of Ismaily is good news for Baffour who has been their best defender so far and is chasing a place in Ghana’s 2019 AFCON team.
