FC Metz were eliminated at home in the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France as US Orleans won by 1-0 but Ghana international defender John Boye did not take part in the Cup game.

Coach Frederic Antonetti decided to rest his regular central defender Boye and handed 22-year old Ivorian youngter Victorien Angban a start but his tinkering did not yield any positive result as Metz – who eliminated AS Monaco with a 3-1 win in the Principality of Monaco – crushed out of France’s most respected Cup competition.

Boye has started 22 of the 23 matches the club has played this season in the Ligue 2 and lead the table with 49 points.
