Ghanaians have been shocked to the marrow following the disappearance of former U17 star Emmanuel Toku from the list of players for the U20 AFCON.
Toku, 19, is conspicuously out of the final list submitted to CAF despite having his name in the initial 21 man squad submitted to CAF and subsequently published on the CAF website.
Toku’s absence from the squad has stirred confusion in the West African country as he was one of the hopefuls expected to raise the flag of Ghana at the tournament.
The swift winger scored Ghana’s only two goals at the WAFU Zone B U20 tournament that took place in Togo a few months ago.
There has not been any official communication from the team as to why Toku was dropped in the final list but FootballMadeInGhana.com understands that Toku was omitted from the squad for Ostersunds FK winger Frank Arhin.
Initial reports were that Toku had problems with his passport leading to the team’s departure to Niger without the 19-year old boy.
However, after Toku’s passport issues were resolved, head coach Jimmy Cobblah asked the player to wait until CAF published the official list on Thursday morning without his name.
Ghana are in Group B with Burkina Faso, Mali and Senegal.
