2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup
Al-Hilal vs Asante Kotoko
Date : 3 February 2019
Venue : Al-Hilal Stadium, Omdurman.
The Porcupine Warriors reached the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup last Sunday after a 2-1 win at Babayara stadium in their second leg playoff against Cameroon’s Coton Sport de Garoua giving the Ghanaian side a 5-3 aggregate victory.
Asante Kotoko were joined by Zambia duo Zesco United, Nkana FC and Al-Hilal of Sudan in Group C and former striker of The Leader of the Country , Abednego Tetteh, has advised C.K Akonnor’s team to pitch camp in the United Arab Emirates capital city Dubai in order to acclimatize with the hot weather conditions they will encounter in Khartoum when they travel for their group opener on February 3rd.
“I will advice Kotoko to try to pitch camp in Dubai before going to play their game against Hilal. This will help them acclimatize with the harsh weather conditions in Khartoum. Even pitching camp in Ethiopia won’t help them. Dubai is the best.” the former Bechem United attacker told Kumasi-based Silver FM.”
“I have played in Sudan and I know very well the weather and this is something I want to tell Asante Kotoko if they want to get a good result in Khartoum.” he added.
Of course whether the club will be able to heed to Tetteh’s proposal will depend on the financial strength of the Kumasi-based side as few clubs on the continent would be able to pitch preparatory camp in the Gulf to play African club matches.
