Former Asante Kotoko defender Issah Ahmed has congratulated C.K Akonnor and his team for reaching the group stages of the Confederation Cup for the first time in a decade.
The Porcupine Warriors reached the group stages of the 2018/19 CAF Confederation after seeing off Cameroon’s Coton Sport de Garoua in the playoff round.
Kotoko defied all odds to win 3-2 in the first away leg in Yaounde before sealing qualification with a 2-1 home victory in Kumasi over the weekend.
“It is never easy to make the group stages so I must congratulate the team, the coach, the players and everybody at the club” Issah Ahmed popularly known as the “Rock” told Silver FM on Wednesday from the United States of America where he is currently based.
“We managed to reached the group stages and even got to the finals but we lost the trophy to our rivals Hearts of Oak” he added.
The former Ghana international defender represented the two-time Champions league winners between 2004 and 200 before he was transferred to Randers FC in Denmark.
