Hosts Ashanti Gold SC recorded a 2-1 win over Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals to pick a ticket to the finals of the maiden edition of the Betway Cup at the Len Clay on Saturday.
An 11th minute strike from Sadick Adams who scored from the spot and an 88th minute striker by striker Salia Ouattara gave the Miners the all-important win despite Elvis Kyei Baffour pulling one back.
AsshGold led with Sadick Adams’ spot kick as Liberty struggled but failed to get the equalizer before the break.
Striker Ouattara unleashed a powerful shot that could not be saved by goalkeeper Fatau Dida in the 88th minute.
Elvis Kyei Baffour got the consolation for the Scientific Soccer Lads at the death as he scored from a penalty.
The win means Ashanti Gold will face the winner of the game between Medeama SC and Aduana Stars in the finals as Liberty Professionals meet the loser in the 3rd and 4th play-off.
