Following their historic win over Cameroon champions Cotton Sport Garoua in the play-off phase of the CAF Confederation Cup, Asante Kotoko winger Maxwell Baako has directed praises to head coach CK Akonnor for guiding the side to victory.
Baako who grabbed the second goal for Asante Kotoko in their magnificent 3-2 win over The Cottoners at their own backyard has saluted Akonnor for steering the victory.
According to Baako, Akonnor psyched the players towards victory ahead of the game which gingered them to chalk the historic feat.
“C.K is a great coach. Even before we came to Cameroon, he motivated us to win the game. So it’s not surprising that we have been able to win,” he said after the game.
“He’s made us aware that the second leg will be a difficult game than what we met in Cameroon so we will fight and win that one too,” he added.
Kotoko have one leg already in the group stage of the competition and avoiding defeat against Cotton Sport bat the Baba Yara Stadium on January 20 will see them in the group phase of the competition.
