Members representing the 16 Premier League clubs had a private meeting with the Normalization Committee (NC) to discuss aspects of their special tournament proposal they (Premier League clubs) felt could be improved for the betterment of football in Ghana.
A wide range of topics were discussed towards the shared objective of bringing professional club football back to Ghana in a competitive manner.
Details of the private meeting attributed to Accra Hearts of Oak SC Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, have been grossly misconstrued and misrepresented. The release of such information only hurts those who truly want to see football return in a sustainable way for all stakeholders.
It was suggested at the meeting that the 16 Premier League clubs would guarantee the NC of the availability of a top up cash of $400,000.
It must be placed on record that Togbe Afede XIV never said he was going to pay the $400,000 from his personal coffers.
We continue to have a dialogue with the NC on the best path forward for all concerned and believe the plans we shared with them today are a strong indication of our commitment.
