The Ghana FA says it will consult CAF over the use of the Special Competition to determine Ghana’s representatives for the Champions League and Confederation Cup.

According to CAF Inter-Club regulations, participants of the Champions League are drawn for the elite national league while that of the Confederation Cup are drawn from the national cup.

In Ghana, clubs that emerge winners of the Premier League and the FA Cup are the ones that qualify to play in the Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively.

But due to the halt on all official football activities since June 2018, the Normalisation Committee are looking to produce Ghana’s representatives for both continental competitions from its Special Competition.

But faced with the realities of the legal challenges, the Ghana FA now says it will consult CAF.

“It is true that as it stands, it appears we might not be able to produce our reps for Africa with this Special Competition but we will consult with CAF and try to find the best solution,” President of the Normalisation Committee Dr. Kofi Amoah told club representatives on Tuesday.

The Ghana FA had earlier planned to have the winners of its Special Competition to represent Ghana in African Inter-Club competitions.
