The Ghana FA revealed to club representatives the format for its Special Competition on Tuesday.
This competition will involve the 16 clubs in the Premier League and the 48 Division One clubs which gives a total of 64 clubs.
The first phase of the competition will see participating clubs engage each other in a playoff round.
This playoff round shall be played on a home and away basis.
Clubs shall however be seeded on the basis of the division in which they play and other criteria such as proximity.
Teams that win their ties in the playoff round shall enter Tier 1 of the competition while losers shall enter Tier 2.
In this round – both Tier 1 and Tier 2 – clubs shall be placed in groups. Each Tier shall have eight groups of four teams each.
A team shall engaged each member of his group on a home and away basis with the team emerging with the highest number of points ending up as group winners and will secure automatic qualification to the Quarter finals.
The runners up shall join the winners of the Tier 2 groups to play in another playoff round with the before the quarter finals of the Tier 2 commences.
From this round onward, teams shall engage each other in a two-legged affair through the semi finals and then the finals which shall be a one-off match at a neutral level.
