Head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana Kwesi Appiah has revealed that President Akufo-Addo has personally started planning for the national team’s participation in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana and Kenya secured their tickets to the tournament finals from the qualifying group and according to the Ghana coach the President deserves commendations for leading preparations for the country’s AFCON campaign well ahead of time.
“Let me salute the President for his involvement. About a week ago he called all stakeholders of the national team. He has started showing more interests. He has contacted the sponsors of the national team and everybody. I mean everybody involved in planning for this AFCON.” Appiah revealed on Silver FM on Thursday.
“The President says her doesn’t want the situation where we will have issues just before or during the tournament. He wants to gets everything done and that is why he has started this early.”
Ghana have not won the Africa Cup of Nations since the nations’ last success in Libya 1982.
