The former Inter Allies attacker failed to make the cut for the away trip in Kenya but worked hard in training to claim a starting place in the return leg on Saturday playing to the satisfaction of coach C.K Akonnor.
Fatawu Abdul Safiu opened the scoring in the 18th minute to send the massive Babayara crowd into jubilant mood after a brilliant exhibition of skills and composure in the Sharks area. Kotoko won 2-1 to advance at the expense of Karionagi Sharks and Akonnor is in awe of the client of Yusif Chipsah.
“Yes I was impressed with the way he played. A week ago when we were going to Kenya I was not happy (with him). I came back and sat him down and told him he is going to play this time and this is what I wanted him to do and I must see it from training.” Akonnor said after the game.
“There was a friendly match on Wednesday and he did very well and so he gave me the chance to play him and I think today he did well and scored a fantastic goal when we needed it. ” the Kotoko coach added.
