Ghana’s U23 team has been dealt a massive blow as they will be without Benjamin Tetteh for the 2020 Olympic Games qualifier against Togo.
The 21-year-old had been invited for the two-legged encounter later this month.
Tetteh’s club, Sparta Prague however in their response to the Ghana FA’s invitation say the player is unavailable due to injury.
The former Standard Liege man has been in good form lately, scoring eight goals in 18 top flight games thus far this season.
The Czech top flight is set to go on a winter break on December 15 and coach Ibrahim Tanko was hoping to take advantage of this break to secure the services of the in-form marksman since the Olympic Games qualifiers are not covered as mandatory FIFA dates.
With the unavailability of Tetteh, coach Ibrahim Tanko must look elsewhere for striking re-enforcements.
One name that comes readily in mind is Dauda Mohammed who has started playing games for Belgian giants Anderlecht since his return from injury.
Ghana will first host Togo in the first leg of the qualifier in Accra on December 18 before traveling to Lome for the return encounter five days later.
Ghana is hoping to qualify for its first Olympic Games finals since its last appearance in Athens in 2004.
