The highly-rated center back is a currently a free agent after his contract run out at Aduana Stars on November 2.
It is now revealed that the premier league winner Stephen Anokye Badu was on the brink of signing for the Porcupine Warriors but a potential CAF suspension fended Asante Kotoko off.
Badu failed a doping test after Aduana Stars 3-3 home draw against Raja Casablanca in the Confederation Cup and even though no official sanction has been announced against the player Kotoko didn’t want to take any risk and withdrew their interest.
C.K Akonnor and his team then looked elsewhere to land Karela United’s Ismail Ganiyu who also won the premier league with Wa All Stars in 2016.
“They (Kotoko) asked us about Badu and we held some talks. He was going to join them, ” Kwame Baah who is the player’s brother and personal manager told Footballmadeinghana.com in an exclusive interview.
“But what pushed them away was the potential ban from CAF and that would mean they cannot use him in Africa should they sign him. This is the main reason Anokye Badu didn’t go to Kotoko” he added.
