General Manager of Divison One side Tamale City FC Jones Abu Alhassan has been speaking with FootballmadeinGhana.com and paid a glowing tribute to one of the biggest Northern football contributors – Alhaji Rahim Gbadamosi – who passed away last week.
Gbadamosi was an accomplished educationist who rose to become the Director General of the Ghana Education Service and also served as headmaster of Tamale Secondary School.
He was founding member of Real Tamale United and Abu Alhassan has spoken highly of him.
“He was one of the founders of RTU and encouraged football in the Northern region by admitting talented football players who were not academically good,” Jones Abu Alhassan told FootballmadeinGhana.com in an exclusive interview on Wednesday evening.
“Students who would normally not have been admitted were admitted by Alhahi Gbadamosi so that they pursue both football and educational career and this produced many players for the country.
“Most of the first batch of RTU players were products of Gbadamosi.
“He did a lot for football in the region. I for instance started my football administrative career under him and also under late vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama. I did my national service at his (Gbadamosi) office and that is where I came into football. He was the headmaster of Tamasco and at the same time chairman of RTU.
“His dedication to sports was really outstanding”. he added.
