Coach Thomas Dennerby has hailed his Nigeria’s defensive masterclass in their semi final win over Cameroon on Tuesday.
The defending champions secured a 4-2 penalty shootout win over their opponents who were widely considered overwhelming favourites for the tournament.
Nigeria were on the backfoot for most of the game played at the Accra Sports Stadium.
But the Super Falcons did a great job in minimizing the attacking threat of Cameroon.
Coach Dennerby thus attributed his team’s progression to the finals to the side’s great work in defence.
“We defended very well against a good team and this is probably the reason why we went through today,” he said.
Nigeria will face either South Africa or Mali in the finals of this year’s tournament as they go in chase of their ninth African title.
