General Manager of Asante Kotoko George Amoako has stated that playing in the CAF Club competitions is financially too demanding.
George Amoako was speaking at the launch of the club African campaign where he also called on the fans of the club to patronize Kotoko’s home games.
” We need the support of the fans. If we want the development of the club. We are fine with everything. We have made recruitment to beef up the squad. The team just need a little time to jell and start firing at all cylinders”
” African is not easy. The African Cup is always about dollars. The competition is expensive. But we all agreed to go and play. We don’t want to just to go and compete . We want to go and do well. And hopefully win the cup.
George Amoako also revealed that, the club spent over Ghc 600 000 in last year’s Confederation Cup campaign.
“According to what is left with us. Last year we spent over Ghc 650,000 just on the one round we played against CARA. So if we have made up our mind to go far this season. Then we must sacrifice and pay. The competition is very expensive. But we must be ready for everything” He added.
