Coach Bashir Hayford is counting on Algeria to beat Mali in doing Ghana a favour for qualification into the semi finals of the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
The Black Queens must beat favourites Cameroon on Friday and hope Mali slip up in the other final Group A fixture to qualify.
Ghana is in this precarious state due to their defeat to Mali in the second group game last Tuesday.
Mathematically, Ghana can still qualify without the help of Algeria who are yet to pick a point in this competition in the unlikely event they thrash Cameroon.
But coach Bashir Hayford is hopeful of an Algeria win to help his own cause.
“I won’t be surprised if Algeria beat Mali,” he said.
“They [Algeria] can’t come to the tournament and not even get a point because they’ve also spent a lot on this competition.
“So I won’t be surprised if they win.”
