Asante Kotoko have declined a request from the Cameroon FA to have its Confederation Cup match rescheduled.
The Porcupine Warriors are to play either Eding FC or Lion Blesse FC in the November 28 clash.
Eding FC and Lion Blesse FC are to play the final of the Cameroon FA Cup in December to determine Cameroon’s representative in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Cameroonian FA – FECAFOOT – having failed to convince CAF into rescheduling the match sent a delegation made up of FECAFOOT General Secretary Didier Banlock and a representative of the Cameroonian government Disaaice M. Michel in trying to get Kotoko sign a joint petition to have the match postponed.
But following the meeting between the Cameroon delegation and Kotoko Chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei on Tuesday, the Ghanaian giants have declined the request of the Cameroonians.
“Following the discussions held between the delegation from Cameroon and the Executive Chairman of our club in Kumasi this morning, we write to notify your federation of our inability to accept your proposal due to the various commitments at hand,” Kotoko said in an official letter to FECAFOOT.
This means the Cameroon FA must enter its representative for the match on November 28 or stand to be disqualified.
This will also mean Kotoko would draw a by in the first preliminary round.
The Ghanaian giants have been preparing intensely for the match having undergone days of camping in Takoradi and playing a series of friendly matches.
