Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah has promised ‘huge’ rewards to the Ghana team if they manage to win the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
The Black Queens kick start their campaign on home soil with an opening group game against Algeria on Saturday.
Ghana is under a lot of pressure to win the tournament for the first time in its history as it hosts the competition.
The Queens are however owed bonuses for previous qualifying campaigns.
Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah has however urged the team to put all of these concerns aside and focus on delivering gold for the nation which he believes will in-turn reward the team handsomely.
“The President His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo expects the gold,’ he told the team.
“Forget about all these small bonuses. This nation will reward you with much bigger things.
“There are huge rewards awaiting you of you win this tournament.”
Ghana is based in the capital of Accra and will face Mali and Cameroon in subsequent group games.
