The Ghana international striker has not lacked playing opportunities at Nantes this season making 13 appearances across all competitions for Vahid Halihodzic’s team but Waris is yet to score in the Ligue 1.
The 27-year old is relegated to the bench as South American duo Gabriel Boschilia (3 goals ) and Emiliano Salah (10 goals this season) are the first choice pair of strikers of coach Vahid.
Majeed Waris has played 694 minutes of competitive football in the 2018/19 season but the on-loan FC Porto striker has has just one goal and one assist to show, a poor return looking at the scale of opportunities and minutes played by the player.
In the 13 appearances the Ghanaian striker has made so far this season, he started 7 of them scoring his only goal of the season in a 3-0 Coupe de La Ligue win over Montpellier on October 30.
It took Waris 591 minutes to score his first goal in the colors of Nantes FC when he netted an 80th minute goal against Montpellier but the Black Stars striker is yet to open his scoring account in the Ligue 1.
Despite scoring in the Cup game he was relegated to the bench once again in Nantes’ 5-0 league win over Guingamp over the weekend as Halihodzic lined-up Libombe Anthony, Rongier Valentin, Gabriel Boschilia and lethal forward Emiliano Salah in a very offensive formation.
It is currently a tough time for Waris who has struggled to make impact in his 5th season in France.
