The experienced right back rejoins former club Asante Kotoko on Thursday and is one of the most decorated Ghanaian players  winning 15 major titles in his professional career. No other player on this current Kotoko team comes near the veteran defender in terms of success.

American side Phoenix Rising FC released defender Yaw Frimpong, 31,  after he failed an entrance physical test in February this year but C.K Akonnor sees the 31-year old as an important addition to his team for Africa this season and has handed him a one-year contract to compete with Amos Frimpong and Augustine Sefah at the right back position.

The former Ghana U-20 player has represented clubs like Feyenoord Academy in Ghana, ASEC Mimosas, Asante Kotoko and Congolese TP Mazembe in a garlanded career lifting the CAF Champions league and twice the Confederation Cup with the team of Moise Katumbi.

Frimpong played for ASEC Mimosas in the Ivory Coast and won two league titles with the Black and Yellows in 2009 and 2010 before joining Asante Kotoko to help them to two league successes in 2012 and 2013 under Maxwell Konadu and Masud Didi Dramani respectively.

The quick full back attracted the attention of giants TP Mazembe who came for his signature in January 2013 and what followed was eleven major honors clinched by the former Feyenoord academy product in Lubumsbashi. He won 4 league titles, 3 Congo Super Cups, 1 Champions league and 2 Confederation Cup and 1 CAF Super Cup with the Black and Whites.

Yaw Frimpong will be looking forward to expand his trophy room in his second coming in Kumasi but the player knows he needs to be lucky with fitness to succeed following his fitness test failure at Phoenix Rising FC this year.
