Kingsley Owusu Achiaw has backed the Porcupine Warriors to represent Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup this season and wants the rest of the clubs to support CK Akonnor’s team.
President of Bechem United Kingsley Owusu Achiaw popularly known as “Agama” has called on the Normalization committee and Ghanaians to support Kotoko’s bid to participate in Africa this season.
Ghana is not under any FIFA or CAF suspension and hence could enter representatives to compete in the 2018/19 CAF Champions league and CAF Confederation Cup.
However the normalization committee in a meeting with the Ghana clubs owners took a majority decision not to allow any Ghanaian club to participate in the CAF inter-club competitions.
But Asante Kotoko have since launched a campaign to go to Africa and have petitioned the Normalization committee to represent Ghana in next season CAF Confederation Cup citing the relevant CAF regulations that supports them to be entered into the competition since the finality of the current season is still not determined.
Speaking on Asempa FM this morning Bechem United President Kingsley Owusu Achiaw has called on the Normalization committee and Ghanaians to support Asante Kotoko instead of questioning their readiness.
“Let’s back Asante Kotoko to go to Africa else we will lose 2020” Agama said.
“There is nothing like an ideal time to do anything. We need to send a candidate to Africa in other to increase our ranking. Let back them to go since they are ready to participate.”
The veteran football administrator also calls on the normalization committee to allow the truncated league to continue.
“Let’s continue the league so the Normalisation Committee can use it as a test case. I think continuing the league will be the best for everyone” he added.
The Normalization committee has since announced that a Congress will be held to ascertain whether the league will continue or not.
The committee is also yet to officially respond to Kotoko’s petition.
