Communication director Sarfo Duku has confirmed Asante have sent a petition to the FIFA Normalization committee for the Ghana Football Association to allow Asante Kotoko to play in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Duku stated the club is financially and sportingly ready to compete well in Africa.
He also urges the committee to apply the CAF statuses which present the club the basis to represent Ghana in Africa for the 2018/19 season.
“We have sent the normalization committee the petition. We know our position as a club. We are reminding them about the CAF rules. Nothing is too late. We are ready to represent Ghana in Africa. The Normalization committee should go back to CAF statutes and check. Is not too late to change their mind” He told Kumasi-based Zuria FM.
“If you don’t participate you will not be able to know if you can win it or not. We are serious as a club, we know what we are doing. We are signing players and we need to make sure they compete at the high level”
“Do we have to wait to get the best 11 players before we go to Africa. No, what if we go and win it?” Duku quizzed.
“We the Management are ready as well as the playing body” he added.
Ghana has until 31 October to submit the names of the two clubs to represent the country in Africa for the 2018/19 season.
Aduana stars and Kumasi Asante Kotoko were the two club that represented the Ghana in the last edition with the Ogya side going on to reach the Confederation Cup group stages.
