Coach Anthony Commey supports the big decision not to enter teams in Africa.
He won the 2012 FA Cup with New Edubiase United.
Anthony Commey led New Edubiase to win their first ever African game beating Diables Rouge of Congo by 1-0 on 17 February 2012 at Accra sports stadium but his team was eliminated by the Congolese side on penalty shootout following a 1-0 defeat in Brazzaville.
The former New Edubiase United coach was in charge of the Bekwai-based club when they played in the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup and agrees with the decision of the FIFA normalisation committee to prohibit Ghanaian clubs from the 2018/19 CAF champions league and Confederation Cup.
Ashantigold (1st) and Medeama (2nd) led the Ghana premier league standings after the first 15 round of matches but the football season was disturbed following the Tiger Eye Pi investigative documentary that shook things at the Ghana Football Association.
The normalisation commiittee of Dr. Kofi Amoah in consultation with the Ghana league club owners took the big decision not to enter any Ghanaian representatives for the CAF inter-club competitions of the 2018.19 season despite the Ghana FA under no suspension.
“I thought it was a good decision not to go to Africa looking at what (the Anas expose) happened in our football” Anthony Commey told FootballmadeinGhana.com in an exclusive interview.
“I support the decision of the Normalisation committee. We have to sit back for this year and reorganize to bounce back or else we will disgrace ourselves as usual if we go.”
“The league was ended following the big Anas video and so it is important for us to reform well before we restart”.
“So who will you say won the league and who is relegated?” Commey quizzed.
