New Edubiase President Abdul Salam Yakubu has kicked against plans to organize a special tournament for clubs in Ghana.
The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) have announced they will be organizing a special tournament to be sponsored by StarTimes.
This competition is meant to fill the void created by the halt of all official football activities following the Anas expose.
GHALCA in their plans to push ahead with the competition met with the Normalization Committee on Wednesday.
But Abdul Salam who is also a member of GHALCA by virtue of his position at New Edubiase, says he’d rather the league resumes.
“Why are we talking about playing a tournament when we have a league to finish?” he quizzed.
“Football in Ghana has changed and thus we will no longer be zombies.
“Sponsors have invested their monies into football products and we’ve abandoned them for a special tournament which will give each club at least a paltry Ghc 2000.”
The competition being mooted by GHALCA is to have clubs in the Premier and second tier play in the tournament.
The format will have the clubs engage each other in a knockout round on a home-and-away basis before subsequently playing in a league format.
