Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah has been handed a massive injury boost as it has been revealed his latest injury setback is not as serious as initially feared.
The 26-year-old had to be replaced after just 14 minutes in Empoli’s 3-1 defeat at Sassuolo on Friday.
It was just the fifth game for the Ghana international since joining the Blues on loan from Torino just at the start of the season.
And it was feared he could have suffered a severe injury when he was hurled of in the Serie-A clash.
But the club in a statement suggests the Ghanaian could return in a matter of days.
“Empoli FC announce that the tests carried out today on the athlete Afriyie Acquah following a muscle problem suffered yesterday during the match against Sassuolo showed a grade one injury to the left biceps femoris muscle,” the statement said.
“The appropriate treatment has already started.”
Acquah is however uncertain for next Thursday’s clash against AC Milan but could feature in subsequent games against Parma and Roma.
